The latest information is placed in the beginning,
old information is in the end.
* Thinkpad (any model)
Always setup LINK stuff
Because all devices are using one IRQ.
* Thinkpad T40, T42: http://ecomstation.ru/hardware.php?action=item&id=1267
psd=acpi.psd /EIS /VBE
and in acpi.cfg:
LINK LNKA 10
LINK LNKH 6
* IBM Thinkpad T43
T43 2200 b/g wireless card won't initiate under ACPI when starting on
battery power. Solution: Disable Speedstep in BIOS setup
* Motherboards with Intel chipset
Work good in SMP APIC,
Don't forget select in BIOS Setup: USB Legacy = disable
* Intel motherboards work good only
in SMP APIC and UNI kernel
* Dell Inspiron 2650
ACPI 3.14: ACPI.PSD /FS /EIS
Previous ACPI versions don't support this notebook
* HP OMNIBOOK 900
Not ACPI hardware
* ASUS M3A78-T
PSD=ACPI.PSD /SMP /PIC /!NOD
This has all 4processors running and stable.
* Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe -- nvidia nForce Ultra 570 chipset (ACPI 3.14)
works with /SMP /PIC
* ASUS M2N-E, BIOS: 16.01 (ACPI 3.14)
works in SMP, APIC
* Acer Extensa 5620 (3.11)
/sap:0x20 /eis /smp
* Fujitsu-Siemens ESPRIMO (3.11)
/SMP /APIC /CD
* ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe + LSILogic U320 SCSI
PSD=ACPI.PSD /APIC /SMP /!NOD
* ASUS A8N-E (ACPI 3.10)
/SMP /APIC /TMR /!NOD /CD
* ASRock AM2NF6G-VSTA (ACPI 3.10)
/SMP /APIC /!NOD /TMR
* ASUS Pundit P1-AH2, AMD X2 (ACPI 3.9)
/SMP /APIC /!NOD
* Asrock AM2NF3-VSTA (ACPI 3.7)
/SMP /APIC /TMR /CD
* Intel 945GCNL (motherboard)
it is supported by ACPI 3.9
* ASUS A6Ja
PSD=ACPI.PSD /SMP /APIC /CD /R
Power off doesn't work, upgrade of BIOS to 217 doesn't help
* Acer Aspire 4315
/SAP:0x20
usb works (with "no acpi" the system hungs before wps if usb drivers were loaded)
* Fujitsu Lifebook N6460 (acpi 3.7)
works in SMP mode, /PIC /SMP /CD
* Toshiba Tecra A9-12T
bad ACPI tables, \_SB_.VALZ.GHCI is missing.
You can't use SMP PIC or SMP APIC mode.
* ASUS G1S (acpi 3.7)
psd=acpi.psd /SMP /APIC /CD
* Thinkpad T60p (2008/02/25)
Switch off (or switch on?!) speedstep in the BIOS setup.
So you can boot in /SMP /APIC
* Dual 2.8 G Xeon IBM ZPro (2008/02)
works in SMP PIC,
doesn't in SMP APIC.
Enable PCIasACPI in acpi.cfg
* Thinkpad r40e -- ACPI.PSD doesn't work
* Common problem of Dell notebooks:
(What is wrong with Dell notebooks? Why I must install SMP kernel?)
You should use SMP kernel else when ACPI is enabled then
reading of harddisk via int 13 stops to work.
ACPI-HARD-050-ENG
* COMPAQ Presario V5000
ACPI 3.05, use switch: /!NOD
* NVidia chipset (2008/01)
All NVidias should work with /SMP /APIC /!NOD
sometimes you need /ALS
* Celeron CPU
hey! no need to run /SMP on Celeron CPU
(if /SMP is not used then /PIC and /APIC are unusable)
* NVidia MB (2007/12)
/!NOD is useful for NVidia MB, which can't work with /PIC.
* ASUS P4C800
buggy keyboard controller.
ACPI 3.05
* Add to os2\boot\acpi.cfg
GPEDisable 0x1D
* user 2: reserve IRQ 3,5 and 7 in BIOS settings, disable HT and
activate switches /SMP /APIC /CD.
* Acer Travelmate 4672
bad ACPI tables,
ACPI failed, PCI config space is empty.
Wifi is not available..
Search for modified tables.
* IBM - eServer xSeries 235 or 345 (?)
http://ecomstation.ru/hardware.php?action=item&id=1194
Update BIOS
bad ACPI tables
use /PIC /!NOD
* Acer notebooks
Bad ACPI tables
If nothing happens then boot ACPI.PSD with switch: /SAP:0x20
* Thinkpad notebooks
All Thinkpad have common problem if booting in PIC mode:
all devices are using IRQ11
(this happens if you activate ACPI, i.e. boot ACPI.PSD; if don't enable
ACPI then problem doesn't occur because old BIOS configures IRQs by itself)
that's why you should use LINK if booting in PIC mode
(without SMP or with SMP PIC)
example: http://ecomstation.ru/hardware.php?action=item&id=1267
* Modern Dell notebooks with 1 CPU work better
if use APIC mode (ACPI 3.05, 2007/11)
* install SMP kernel
* boot with /SMP /FS /APIC
* NEC Versa M360 (20070917)
This notebook doesn't have PCI BIOS.
The notebook has trap in Intel interpretator during call
AcpiInitializeObject. In _SB_._INI.TRAP.
Use ACPI.PSD /SMP /APIC /SAP:0x20 to start ACPI partially initialized.
* Compaq Presario R3000 (20070914)
(?????) try use acpi.psd /IRQ:10 or /IRQ:11
* Acer Travelmate 4672 (20070913)
Bad ACPI tables, PCI Space is broken,
Wifi 3945 is not visible for OS, etc
* Samsung P28
Works better if (200708xx):
psd=acpi.psd /VBE /OS="Microsoft Windows NT" /OSI="Windows 2001 SP1"
* Dell Inspiron 640m
* doesn't have embedded controller (20070313)
* ASUS A6Ja, A7J, Z99H (200706)
1. update BIOS to the latest
2. execute command via ACPI snooper: EVALUATE \_SB_.ATKP:I1
=> embedded controller starts to work
* Quanta ZW9 notebook (Acer 8000 series, Maxdata 8100 series)
http://betazone.ecomstation.nl/index.php?m=forums&a=viewer&forum_id=19&message_id=236
* Acer Ferrari 4005WLMi
Bad ACPI tables
http://ecomstation.ru/hardware.php?action=item&id=897
DSDT table: http://ecomstation.ru/projects/acpitools/DSDT/ACER-Ferrari_4000-S3A20-custom.zip
Load it via ACPI snooper
Try /IRQ:10
* Thinkpad T23
acpid.cfg: IdleState=C2 change to IdleState=HLT
* Thinkpad TP R51e
Bad ACPI tables
* Toshiba Satellite P100
http://news.ecomstation.nl/article.php?id=1265&group=ecomstation.beta#1265
* IBM Thinkpad T40
1. update BIOS to the latest
2. use /EIS switch for ACPI.PSD
=> embedded controller starts to work fine
* NVidia AMD X2
* install SMP kernel
* PSD=ACPI.PSD /SMP /TMR /APIC
* no need in snooper
* Modern Dell notebook
* install SMP kernel
* PSD=ACPI.PSD /FS
* no need in snooper
* Modern Dell notebook with multikernel CPU
* install SMP kernel
* PSD=ACPI.PSD /FS /SMP /PIC
* no need in snooper
