ASUS A8N SLI Premium (AMD Socket 939)

Mark: Very good

Some experiences with latest ACPI/APM build (20061016) in combination with eCS beta 2.0b and bootable JFS. Graphic card ATI X300 with latest SNAP 3.18.

  • As this board is using NVIDIA chipset, the acpisnp.snp was "comment out" in the snoop.lst file. Snoop.lst has only the following entries:
    mouse.snp
    serial.snp
; Note: Place additional snoopers above this line
    ;acpisnp.snp
    pcibus.snp

Omitting serial.snp resulted in inactive COM ports.

  • I'm not using the SMP mode as it triggers the CPU fan to run faster with to much noise.
  • A real power off is still not working with the latest APM.
  • Booting up the computer sometimes results in a flickering cursor in the upper left corner of the screen and a frozen system. A reboot is the only way to come out.
  • System seems pretty stable even after loading more than 20 applications at the same time.
  • Combination of Bootable JFS, 7200 rpm WDC harddisk of 250 GB, 1 GB DDR ram and this type of MOBO gives an amazing blazing fast eCS system
