Name: USB Widget

  • Reward: none
  • Terms: not defined

Plan of work (2010):

  • Use IBM method to detect (assign) new drive letters. examples:
  • Run detect of new drives only if USBMSD device was attached. how to do this? USB Dock -> parse description of device -> check USB MSD
  • Show pictures on N new devices (now the widget shows 1 picture only)

Plan of work (2009):

  • Improve PushLVM(), use IBM's method to query new drive letters
  • menu -> enable/disable widget // some USB devices cause hang of eCS
  • Detect type of USB device, start LVM (query drive letters) only if user attached USBMSD
  • A dozen on bugs in the tracker: USB Widget *

Plan of new developer (2010/09):

  • The problem with the widget is that sometimes when inserting a flashdrive, the drive does not appear in the menu.
  • Also, when deleting the widget from the ecenter, and then re-creating it, makes the menu-entry "Search for flashdisks.." fall back to it's default name "Rediscover PRM". This happens because the language-file is only loaded at module-init and not on widget-creation.
  • Another thing is that when using an iomega zipdrive, the disk only gets mounted after clicking on the widget-button. It would be nice to have the zip-disk mounted at insertion without further user action.
