Q: Trap in PMI1002.DLL during boot to desktop
A: Remove old dlls:
* Remove PMI1002.DLL (copy it to backup directory)
(pmixxxx.dll files are extenders for VBE. 1002 - for ATI)
* If this doesn't help then try remove genpmi.dll,
* then ibmgpmi.dll, svgadata.pmi
Q: Shadow buffer is enabled but it doesn't work (drawing is slow)
A: * Try upgrade/downgrade motherboard BIOS of the computer.
* Check x:\vbe2grad.log, It should contain: Write Combine caching enabled
Q: Video players hang on mouse move
A: Disable comet cursor
Q: DOS, MsgBox: "The system doesn't support the video mode in a window"
A: Try boot VSVGA.SYS with parameters:
/PCITRAP=08-0F /PCITRAP=10-2F /PCITRAP=E0-F3 /PCITRAP-F8-FB /PCITRAP=100-113
Try them individually and/or all together, and hopefully you'll find
something that works.
(thx Scitech, not verified)
Change in CONFIG.SYS:
DEVICE=x:\OS2\MDOS\VSVGA.SYS
to
DEVICE=x:\OS2\MDOS\VVGA.SYS
