| VirtualBox (Open Source Edition) |
Seems like the best alternative at the moment.
The RDP / USB Passthru features of the commercial version, available for
free under the PUEL license (Windows / Linux / Solaris) are not available
in the open source version. Pity. And I doubt that anything in this
universe will induce Sun to release an ECS Version of the commercial code...

| Virtual PC |
Originally Connectix, bought over by Microsoft in ca. Summer 2003.
Can run XP, but VERY slow. A rough idea is about 33% of the original host system can be used by Virtual PC.
Won't install on newer CPUs - no support for Dual CPU, let alone MulitCore.
AFAIK, Virtual PC was NEVER free on Innoteks site - there was a link to Connectix, where the actual sale was done...
- Version: Virtual PC 2004

- Chuck: Since Parallels appears to present the virtual disk as an
ordinary IDE drive, I have been using the latest IBM1S506.ADD,
IBMATAPI.FLT, and IBMIDECD.FLT. I will probably re-think this
when I try to add RSJ support.
