MSI -- K9A2 Platinum (MS-7376) (QuadCore)
| |
MSI K9A2 Platinum (MS-7376 v1.x Mainboard)
BIOS: AMI BIOS v1.4
CPU: AMD Phenom 9600, Agena Quad Core CPU, 2.3 GHz
North Bridge: AMD 790FX chipset
South Bridge: AMD SB600 chipset
RAM: 3Gb
LAN: Realtek 8111B
(Firewire 1394: VIA VT6308P)
(Audio: Realtek ALC888 / ALC888T)
USB: 4 OHCI
COM-port: 1
- SMP-kernel can be used
- Realtek 8111B use the 8168 GenMac driver. Have some problems during
heavy load though, because it may crash in NETBEUI.
- Graphics: GeCube, ATI Radeon HD 3870 work great with Panorama. Thanks!
Issues:
- Can't use ACPI with /SMP /ACPI nor /APIC set (ACPI 3.05 eCS v2.0 RC4).
- Have 2 identical S-ATA DVD burners installed, the second one doesn't show
up in eCS. Can do initial boot of eCS on the secondary, but halt later.
- Installer finds extra soundcard, SBLive Player 5.1, but it doesn't emit
sound, just clicks.
- Would be interesting to try to make SMP mode work...

Tried os2apic.psd and it goes futher than acpi.psd, but hang when the desktop opens.
Can see that it enables the 4 cores/processors though. Hmmm, need to find documentation on how to get past hang during desktop open.
Thank you for the suggestions.

Activated SMP kernel Tried variations to /SMP /PIC and /APIC in with/without /!NOD Still get the halt in resource.sys, but can now see the message since I've now removed the os2logo.
It states:
A disk error occured
Insert a system diskette and restart the system
The problem doesn't show up if I remove the params from acpi.psd
___________
I also tested with os2acpi.psd and it enabled the 4 processors and booted, though froze when the gui came up (wait cursor and background color). |
